“The Risk Management expertise of Jane Chamberlain was extensively utilised by Agribusiness Financial Services at the NAB. The division required two key Credit Risk solutions. Jane had the complex task of developing a more robust Customer Rating System to price for risk and a Credit Assessment tool to quantify the credit risk for all Agribusiness lending files across Australia. A specific agribusiness customer rating system was sought to incorporate the unique aspects of rural industry and finance as compared to business files. A consistent credit assessment tool was needed to replace up to 15 versions of banker built tools calculating their preferred key ratios unique to each agricultural region. Jane successfully developed both the Ag Rating System and the Agribusiness Financial Analysis (AgFA) program comprising key performance ratios and a dedicated Farm Viability Ratio. Both were delivered at a fraction of the cost of the market rate of software vendors and with a better fit for purpose. Jane’s ability to perform effectively in matters of risk management can be attributed to her strong business outcome focus together with her strategic and systems thinking.
